As you get ready to pay your Federal Income Tax this year, remember that part of that money is going to pay the TSA. Not only are you being penalized by being groped for making the decision to fly, but you are also paying the salary of that person checking you out on the full-body scanner or putting their hands all over you.
Senator Rand Paul was stopped in Nashville yesterday because the scanner showed something on his leg. He pulled up his pant leg and pulled down his sock and offered to show his leg, which the TSA claimed was the source of the problem, but they wouldn't have it. He even offered to go through the scanner again. They said that if he wanted to proceed, he would be required to have a full-body pat down. He refused and he was detained.
When he used his cellphone to call the organizers of a rally he was supposed to be at (but missed because of the hold up), they told him because he used his cell phone, he would now have to undergo a full-body search in order to proceed (having gone through the pat down, I don't even want to think about how intrusive the search must be).
He ended up being allowed to leave the airport, escorted by police, re-book his ticket, and go through security again. The second time, there was nothing on his leg.
So what was it that triggered the alarm the first time? Nothing. Two TSA employees told Senator Paul that the machine randomly flags people for pat-downs. That way, people think there was a reason, but they were actually just selected at random.
The TSA, of course, is denying this.
They are liars and professional thugs.
And we are all paying them and paying the officials that instituted them and gave them this authority.
You can here Rand Paul tell the whole story here. He also offers an intelligent alternative to body scanners and full-body pat-downs.
